TAKE a glance at Jeremiah Rukong and you would not
believe that this bodybuilder could gobble up a dozen mooncakes at one go.
“I just love them. Every time the (mooncake) festival
approaches, I would go out hunting these treats, especially those with the
salted egg’s yolk filling,” says the 37-year-old medical laboratory
technologist.
Jeremiah first entered the sport in 1998, during his
college days. His first competition was Mr Junior Sarawak 2000, where he
placed first runner-up.

➧Jeremiah says he is inspired by Hungarian
bodybuilder Peter Molnar.
➧He can play the guitar quite well – his favourite tune
is Extreme’s ‘More Than Words’.
➧He once worked part-time as a bartender, when he was
19. He stayed on mixing drinks at a restaurant in Kuching City for two years. “I
was quite good at it too,” he quips.
➧Jeremiah loves cooking. His favourite dish? Spaghetti...!
➧He also plays wicked table tennis and has some
martial art skills.
➧His lecturer brought him to the gym in 1998 –
marking his entry in bodybuilding.
